If you’re a small nonprofit, you’re used to doing a lot with a little. You share office space, barter for equipment, bring your lunch from home. Maybe there are five of you doing eight jobs—or maybe there are one or two of you doing everything. Maybe the CMO is the whole marketing department. Maybe the executive director is the whole marketing department—or the whole organization.

And even mid-sized organizations often feel small, especially at peak times like end-of-year fundraising season.

But small nonprofits do big things, and just because you’re small doesn’t mean you shouldn’t plan and execute a professionally run and effective communications and fundraising strategy. That means thinking about your goals, planning ahead, executing deliberately, and watching the results so you know what’s working.
